Overall, Ted Morgan’s “FDR: A Biography” is a comprehensive and lengthy biography that proves more frustrating than rewarding. While nominally providing significant detail, Morgan’s book offers few overarching themes or messages and provides remarkably little in the way of penetrating analysis. Robert Dallek, the author of an earlier book on Roosevelt’s foreign policy and several presidential biographies, is the latest to take this route. There are many strengths to “Franklin D Author: David Nasaw.
This classic describes the link between a nation’s dominance of the ocean and its dominance in world history. The impact of the author’s words can be seen in strategies developed from World War I onward, most notably in the decisions of two Roosevelts and Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm. This is not a common book, the most recent copy we can find having sold in Dallek emphasises FDR’s nonideological nature, his willingness to try, and err, and try again. In so doing, he made some policy decisions that, in the long run, helped give rise to Trumpism.

FDR was such a well-known president, though, that I can’t help but recommend to the serious reader that they use this book as a starting point and continue their education with the many other volumes out there to get a more full picture of the times and the places where FDR was at center stage during such a tumultuous time in the nation’s /5().

Conrad Black, Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Champion of Freedom The author of this book is a rather FDR-like figure himself: a newspaper magnate, he was once one of the most powerful men in Canada.
He's also an excellent writer, and though this book is quite long ( pages of text!), it's readable, with a decidedly pro-FDR spin on FDR book. Any book that spends time discussing the flowers at Eleanor Roosevelt's mother's wedding could have included information on these and some other subjects.
Marc Cashman does a very good job of narration and adds considerably to the book. I recommend this book to anyone interested in FDR's life in spite of the fact that I am only giving it 4 stars.
